Faculty

Mahalakshmi Jayaram: In her own words: i am not quarter as nice as i look and i do not look nice. Sarcastic and humourous, Ms. Jayaram  is the quirkiest professor around. If she wants your opinion she will give it to you. All her students love her; however she loves her dog more. Her deepest wish is to retire to the mountains.

Gita Abraham: The oldest among the cyber gang, Gita ma'am has had a long and varied career. From working with some of India's well-know papers to running  her community paper in Bangalore for 15 years, she has seen and done it all. She is all about news: " We read newspapers, eat newspapers and we sleep newspapers," she revealed about herself and her husband. Her grandson is her centre of affection.

S. Manikandan: The most educated among the gang, we have no place to list out all his degrees here. A very unique personality with the ultimate desire to experience death. He is the techie in the gang. Soft spoken and mild he does not criticise any of his students. During Production weeks all the boards read: Any Problem Consult Manikandan.

Students

Amruta Sabnis: An economics graduate from Pune. She is a tennis freak, her ultimate aim being to cover Wimbledon. She loves classical music and can often be heard doing the 'alaap' during class hours.

Anthony Pancras: The most serious among the students Anthony is an ordained priest. All the students respect him, including some teachers as well. His interests include listening to classical music.

Ayeshea Perera: A former news anchor with a Srilankan radio channel( the most experienced student), Ayeshea is well-versed in the widgets of new media. A graduate from the university of Colombo, she is a closet nerd. She and her friends could form another country. She often breaks into dance along with Murtaza and was once snapped into silence by a strange man with a camera in lab 3.

Bratatee Barman: 'Was this the face that launched a thousand ships?'. No it was not. From history to archaelogy and finally journalism, Bratatee is "loving it". She dabbled in taekwondo for a little while.

Gaurav Pandey: The toughie with the soft heart, Gaurav is a mystery to the gang. An avid sportsperson he loves cricket and chess.A science graduate  from Bahuguna university he dabbles in Sufism and mysticism. His lists Mirza Ghalib as his favourite writer.

Ipshita Chaudhuri: The 'Friends' addict, she is a happy-go-lucky girl. The female counterpart of Kumbhakarna, her sleeping habits are legendary. An English gradutae from Presidency college in Kolkata, she interned with the Telegraph before joining ACJ. In her own words she is a foodie; appearances are really deceptive.

Ishta Vohra: A journalism graduate from Delhi, she is the most hardworking  in the gang.  A colour freak, she is reported to have changed the colour of Digantik so much that the other designers went hysterical. Her wish was to become a fashion designer.

James Hardy: Hardly expressing an outright opinion, James' response to most things is "Hardy ha ha". A Bob Dylan freak, James has had a long and fruitful relationship with his guitar for three years; one that has been most appreciated by stressed out new media students who have used the hardy boy's musical skills to help them unwind.

Jessica Mehroin Irani: She has an opinion on everything though she will not admit it. An engineering graduate she brings forth her analytical skills with miserable results.

Karthik Krishnaswamy: An unhealthy obsession with pink glasses he is indeed a quirky character. According to MJ, he could be one of the toppers in ACJ if he tried hard.

Lakshmi Kumaraswami: The quiet one , who always manages to hide her face behind her long hair. A 'Beatles' freak she keep humming their songs and when asked to stop it she replies," Let it Be." And heres a fun fact: she has an inexplicable fetish for socks.

Meghna Maiti: An English graduate from Pune, Meghna's true calling is astrology. She reads palms, tells fortunes and is hounded for it. Quiet and meek on the outside, Meghna is really quite um. mad.

Murtaza Wardak:  The expatriate from Afghanistan is a 'wassup-man'. To best describe him one should picture a young Jim Carrey ( not as handsome as him though). His opinions bounce off the wall (literally) and they ultimately come back to haunt him. He is a true daredevil who loves being in dangerous situations; most are caused by him. (such as cheering for the Pakistani cricket team in a room full of Indian students) Dances to entertain people along with Ayeshea.

Nalini Ravichandran: Nalini is always smiling. Always. Most of the time she looks bemused at the shennanigans taking place around her, but get her started and she turns out to be right up there along with the undisputed king of weird: Murtaza.

Narayanan Nambudripad: The confessed socio-phobic who ironically is one of the most popular in ACJ. A musician who serenades the gang every once in a while. A journalism graduate from Bangalore, he wrote for the magazine Rave. His wish is to run his own music site.

Neha Raghunath: Neha did her graduation  in Journalism from Mumbai. Called a sloppy eater by her friends, Neha has also worked for year in a newspaper prior to coming here. An avid sports fan, Neha supports the Indian Cricket team for reasons unexplained.

Nishtha Sharma - Nishtha is the most vocal among us. When she leaves a room you feel her absence. Her colourful and um.. uninhibited language has been a source of entertainment for us and tested the patience of the faculty. A fact she takes great pride in.

Ranjani rajendra: Ranjani is the calm and collected one in our (happy?) family. Nothing fazes her, be it hyperlinking, resizing images or playing a double role for the covering dep website. We all want to be just-like-her.

Sakshi kundra: Very passionate and sensitive, Sakshi is one of the quietest among us but also one of the most dedicated to what she does.

Sumit das gupta: The biggest film buff in college, dont get him started on the topic of cinema, because he'll give you a lecture at least three hours long. Conscientous and diligent, sumitdasgupta (one word please) chips away at what he does very quietly but always gets his job done. Note to the wise: Don't believe a word he says - pulling people's legs is his unofficial hobby.

Swati Roy: Swati is very territorial. She loves drawing boundaries and lines and making sure people stay within them.  Extremely dependable, Swati  is a Political Science graduate from Miranda House, Delhi. She likes to dance in rooms full of strangers by her own admission. Oops.

Saumya Ancheri: Saumya (Or Ancheri as she is more popularly known) is one of the most interesting amongst us. An MA in psychology, Saumya succesfully managed to freak out half the class by subjecting them to personality tests and making startlingly accurate observations about them. She's quite frankly quietly evil.

Vrinda Sharma: The Flash and dreamweaver expert, Vrinda is always calm even when the website is crashing around her. Known for her earring collection, Vrinda has also become one of the foremost patrons of Pondi bazaar.
